The Calgary Flames have agreed to terms with overage centre Bryan Cameron, of the CHL’s Barrie Colts.

Cameron, 21, led the Canadian Hockey League in goals this season with 53. The five-foot-10, 175-pounder also added 25 assists for 78 points in 62 games. He was originally drafted by the LA Kings in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, but the two sides never agreed on contract terms.

Cameron has proven his ability to put the puck in the net, something that was missing from the Flames game this season.

Great Save Kiprusoff

My sources indicate that the Calgary Flames and Vezina Trophy winning goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff have agreed to a 6-year $35 million US contract extension.

This signing ensures that the Flames will continue to have one of the top goaltenders in the league through the 2013-14 season. Add this to the recent 5-year extensions signed by Jarome Iginla and Robyn Regehr and the Flames have a very solid base to continue to grow around.

Kipper’s contract is worth more overall than Canucks goalie Roberto Luongo (4 years, $27 Million)… but he will be paid slightly less per year ($5.83 M vs. $6.75M respectively per season). This contact is a great deal for the Flames, and also represents long-term stability for Miikka and his family.

“I would like to thank the Calgary Flames owners for making this long term commitment to me and my family so we can remain in this city and be part of this organization,” said Kiprusoff in a release. “I look forward to the responsibility and challenge that comes with this contract. Calgary is a loyal hockey community that expects and deserves the very best from its home team.”

You got that right Miikka… Now go win us the Stanley Cup!!!
