Jarome Iginla’s goal with 11 seconds left in regulation time did more than tie the hockey game. It gave the Calgary Flames the momentum they needed to seal their second consecutive win at the start their 6-game eastern road trip.

With the help of goalie Miikka Kiprusoff, the Calgary Flames rallied late in the 3rd period to come back from a 1-0 deficit. Kipprusoff kept everything out of the net while the Flames put some awesome offensive pressure on Panther goalie Thomas Vokoun. but it took everything they had to beat him. In the end, it was a game that was decided by the goaltenders, not by the players.

Kiprusoff stopped 32 shots at one end of the ice, while Vokoun blocked 35 at the other. But the 3 stops that were the most important were the ones Kipper made in the shootout.

Calgary’s Kristian Huselius beat Vokoun to open the shootout, then Kipper proceeded to stop Nathan Horton, Olli Jokinen, and Stephen Weiss.

It is the Calgary Flames first shootout win of the season
