Buh-Bye Dion Phaneuf

So it’s official. Dion Phaneuf is no longer a member of the Calgary Flames. The rumours that have been circulating for the last week came true today as Dion was shipped to the Toronto Maple Leafs with Freddie Sjostrom and Keith Aulie in exchange for Matt Stajan, Niklas Hagman, Jamal Mayers and Ian White. In […]

Bertuzzi Signs in Detroit

One-time Flames forward Todd Bertuzzi has signed a one-year, $1.5M deal with the Detroit Red Wings. He had indicated that he wanted to return to Calgary, but Darryl Sutter made it clear that he should look elsewhere. Last season Bertuzzi was inconsistent, but still put up his best numbers since 05-06, his last season in […]

More Tanguay Rumours

A couple weeks ago, I wrote about rumours that were circulating about whether Alex Tanguay would re-sign with the Calgary Flames. As I said in my original post I don’t believe the rumours and I really don’t think he’ll end up in a Flames uniform next season. But nonetheless, people are still talking. Oh, we […]

Primeau Traded to Leafs for Stralman and Stuart

The Calgary Flames have freed up some necessary cap space by trading forward Wayne Primeau to the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for defenceman Anton Stralman and forward Colin Stuart. The Flames will receive Toronto’s 7th round draft pick in 2012 and the Leafs will receive Calgary’s 2nd round pick in 2011. The trade frees […]

Flames GM Darryl Sutter announced on Thursday that the Flames have re-signed Dustin Boyd to a 1-year contract. As per team guidelines, Sutter did not announce details of the contract, but it was later revealed that he will be making slightly less than he did last season. Flames Sign 2-way Contract With Chris Chucko

Darryl Sutter announced that he has signed a 2-way deal with Burnaby, BC native Chris Chucko. As per team guidelines, the details of the contract were not released. Is Tanguay Coming Back to the Flames?

Oh Crap! Say it ain’t so, Joe! (or Darryl, or Brent, or even Brett!) There is a rumour floating around that the Flames are trying to re-sign Alex Tanguay, who spent 2 so-so years with the Flames in 06-07 and 07-08 . I am not a Tanguay lover by any stretch of the imagination and […]

Flames Sign Brodie, Nemisz, and Seabrook

Though no details of the contracts were released, Calgary Flames GM Darryl Sutter announced today that the Flames have signed T.J. Brodie, Greg Nemisz and Keith Seabrook. These will certainly be two-way contracts, allowing the players to move between the Flames and their AHL team in Abbotsford.

Flames Add Tough Guy McGrattan

Though some would argue that they don’t really need an enforcer, The Calgary Flames have signed tough-guy Brian McGrattan to a 1-year, $550,000 contract. I was reading through the comments on the article on about his signing, and I actually laughed out loud when I read this one by C4L: “Thank God. Remember in […]

Flames re-sign Lunkmark, add Jaffrey

The Calgary Flames have announced the re-signing of Jamie Lundmark and have also added former Vancouver Canuck forward Jason Jaffrey. Lundmark, who played in 27 NHL games with the Flames last season, scored 8 goals and added 8 assists. He totalled 52 points in 54 games while playing with the Flames AHL affiliate in Quad […]

Flames Free Agents Still Available

Several of Calgary’s Unrestricted Free Agents have found homes in other cities across the NHL in the past couple days. Most Notably, Mike Cammalleri has signed with the Montreal Canadiens, where he will join Scott Gomez, and Brian Gionta as the newcomers to Montreal’s front lines. Cammalleri will earn $30M over the next 6 years […]

Flames Add Sjostrom

The Calgary Flames added another player to their roster by signing free agent winger Fredrik Sjostrom to a 2 year deal worth $1.5M. Sjostrom was beloved by NY Rangers fans where he played for the last 2 years. He is a solid 4th liner who can play on the penalty killing unit.
