The Calgary Flames host the Edmonton Oilers in round 1 of the 2011-2012 Battle of Alberta tonight. In addition to the big 2 points that the winner will take home tonight, the game is sure to be a crowd-pleaser for a couple other reasons.
Mikka Kiprusoff will be honoured in a pre-game ceremony for his franchise-record 263 wins. He notched his record-setting win in Montreal last week and it puts him ahead of Flames great, Mike Vernon, as the Calgary Flames all-time leader in wins.
The Flames will also be looking to unseat the young Edmonton Oilers who have had a hot start to the season.
And… to add to the fun, Flames centreman Brendan Morrison will be back in action after recovering from off-season knee surgery.
So.. let’s get this going!!
