Well folks. It’s all over… or it will be in about 20 minutes.
The train wreck that is the Calgary Flames 2009-2010 season is un-officially over. The Flames playoff hopes could die tonight after their loss to the San Jose Sharks if the Colorado Avalanche battle their way to a win over the Canucks. The loss-win combo would mathematically eliminate the Flames from the post-season for the first time in 6 years.
The Avalanche enter the 3rd period up 3-2 and could clinch the 8th playoff spot tonight if they hang onto that lead. We’ll know in about 20 minutes if the Flames season is officially over.
While there aren’t many positives to take from this, the pressure is now off so the Calgary Flames can officially go on one of those “unfamiliar” end-of-season winning streaks that all teams that miss the playoffs seem to go on. It’s been a while since we had the chance to do that. Whooooo….
