Flyers Shut out Flames

Flyers Maple Leafs Hockey

A day after the blockbuster trade that sent Dion Phaneuf and Freddie Sjostrom to the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Calgary Flames didn’t seem to have any extra motivation to play. The Philadelphia Flyers rolled through the Saddledome and had a relatively easy time with the Flames as they ended the night with a 3-0 shutout victory.

The ‘Dome was quiet for most of the night, especially after the Flames went down 2-0 early in the 2nd period. Fans decked out in old Phaneuf jerseys with new “White” name bars were not friendly to their team, and ended up booing the Flames off the ice after a lacklustre effort.

The game was overshadowed by not only the Phaneuf trade and arrival of 4 new players (Stajan, Hagman, White, Mayers) but also the rumoured trade that would sent Olli Jokinen and Brandon Prust to the NY Rangers after the game.

Is it any wonder the Flames lost tonight? What are they going to do with 3 more games in the next 5 nights. When is this new team supposed to practise? Sheesh.
