Though we’re still 16 days away from the start of the 2009-2010 regular season, the Battle of Alberta lights up again as the Flames begin the pre-season by hosting the Oilers tomorrow night. The game will be streamed live on flames.nhl.com, and begins at 7:00pm and there are still tickets available.
There will be a few big names missing from the roster as the Flames will give their young prospects a chance to show they belong in the NHL. Don’t expect to see Iginla, Regehr, Phaneuf or Bouwmeester in the lineup. And it looks like Theo Fleury’s return to the NHL ice won’t be tonight either. Flames coach Brent Sutter has indicated that it will be a little while longer until the 41-year old will suit up for the first time in 7 years.
Flames pre-season action continues on Thursday when the Flames host John Tavares and the NY Islanders. They will then play back-to-back-to-back games on Saturday (in Saskatoon vs. the Islanders) on Sunday (in Calgary vs. the Florida Panthers) and on Monday in Vancouver. The Flames will then play another road game in Edmonton on Wednesday September 23 before returning home to finish off the pre-season against the Canucks on Saturday.
If anyone will be setting up a live-blog or twitter feed for the game, please let me know.
