Nashille Loses, Flames 7th in the West

The Nashville Predators finished off their regular season last night with a 3-1 loss in Chicago. This ensures that the Predators finish 8th in the Western Conference and will face the League-leading Detroit Red Wings in the first round of the playoffs.

The Calgary Flames finish their regular season in Vancouver tonight, and a win is still important. A win will move the Flames into 6th spot in the West, depending on the outcome of tomorrow’s Minnesota-Colorado game. A Calgary win and a Colorado loss will match the Flames up against the Minnesota Wild in round one of the playoffs. A Calgary loss (or Colorado win) will mean the Flames play the San Jose Sharks, which are one of the hottest NHL teams heading into the post season.

Personally, I’d like to see a Flames vs Wild matchup for round one. I think it’s in every team’s best interest to try to avoid Detroit, San Jose and Anaheim in the first round.
