The votes are in and the Calgary Flames have 2 players on the starting lineup for the 2008 All Star game in Atlanta on January 27.
Flames Captain Jarome Iginla and hard-hitting defenceman Dion Phaneuf will both start for the Western Conference.
They will be teamed up with a trio of Detroit Red Wings: Niklaus Lidsrtom (the West’s top vote getter – 477,787 votes), Henrik Zetterberg, and Pavel Datsuyk. The starting goalie for the Best…. excuse me, the West will be Vancouver’s Roberto Luongo.
The Eastern competition is drawn from a more diverse range of teams. It wouldn’t take too much of a genius to figure out that Pittsburgh’s Sidney Crosby will be there as the overall top vote getter (507,274 votes). He’ll be teamed up with Ottawa’s Daniel Alfredsson and Tampa Bay’s Vincent Lecavalier. On the Eastern blueline, Boston’s bruiser Zdeno Chara will be next to Montreal’s Andrei Markov.
