Calgary..2
Detroit…4
The Detroit Red Wings overcame some sloppy defensive play early in the game to defeat the visiting Calgary Flames last night.
Detroit gave up several chances early in the game but the Flames could not capitalize on them often enough.
The teams traded goals in the first and second periods until midway through the 2nd, when the Flames lost their scoring touch. The Wings continued to press and scored again with 3:01 left in the 2nd. They added an insurance goal with less than 5 minutes remaining in the 3rd period to seal the win.
The highlight of the night was Kristian Huselius’ goal at 13:21 in the 1st period. He undressed Red Wings goalie Chris Osgood with a great deke and slid the back-hander past him to tie the game at 1-1.
It was Detroit’s 3rd win in 4 games.
Calgary remains winless in it’s first 3 games of the season.
