Anaheim…0
Calgary….3
Miikka Kiprusoff is making a good case for himself for the Heart Trophy this season. He came up with another MVP-style performance to backstop the Calgary Flames to a 3-0 victory over the Anaheim Mighty Ducks.
Kiprusoff is most certainly the best goaltender in the NHL, and if he doesn’t win the Vezina Trophy this season I’ll be very surprised. And I won’t be the only one.
Check out Kipper’s stats:
With only 3 games left in the regular season, Kiprusoff leads the league in shutouts (9) and wins (41). He is 2nd in goals-against-average (2.12) and 4th for save percentage (.921).
But more than his statistics, Kiprusoff brings consistency to the Flames defense every night. He is calm and composed in net, and adds confidence to the #1 defensive team in the NHL.
In the Calgary’s 3-0 win tonight, Kiprusoff didn’t give Anaheim any chance to get in the game, coming up with many spectacular saves. Calgary’s goals were scored by Chris Simon, Daymond Langkow and Kristian Huselius. Jarome Iginla added 2 assists, while Langkow had his hand in all 3 Flames Goals.
