Shawn Horcoff and Igor Ulanov both scored twice for the Edmonton Oilers as they beat the Calgary Flames 5-4 tonight. Fernando Pisani put his 10th goal of the season past Calgary Flames goaltender Mikka Kiprusoff with 45 seconds left in the 3rd period to win it for the Oilers.
Horcoff, who has had a slow offensive start to his season, had a great game and was dangerous whenever he touched the puck.
Kiprusoff was shaky in net for the Calgary, allowing 5 goals. Flames coach Darryl Sutter said, “Usually Kipper is very sharp and he wasn’t sharp tonight. When you score 4 goals you should win the game.”
Indeed they should have. Calgary dominated the first half of the game, setting up a4-2 lead by the middle of the 2nd period. But it all fell apart for them after that. Edmonton rallied after Ulanov’s 2nd goal (on the powerplay) and continued to play hard right to the final buzzer. They were rewarded with a 5th goal and a victory that ties them with Calgary at 42 points.
